I let myself become overpowered by my "mandatory" tasks (School-work, work-work, Reporter-work) and forget to do things that make me feel whole, like family time, exercise time, luxury time (reading, tv, cooking). I absolutely hate when I let this happen.
But I think I've found the trick. I've started doing my "mandatory" tasks in the mornings (keep your phone off for this). Believe me, I want to Instagram-scroll in bed just as much as the next person does. But for some reason, I'm most productive in the mornings and I realized I don't take enough advantage of it.
So on weekdays I wake up around 9AM latest in order to give myself until lunchtime to do all my must-do things.
Try this out next time you find yourself letting "mandatory" tasks cut into lifestyle tasks.
